Convex™ Vinyl for Stock Car Graphics, Stickers & Decals
Convex High-Bond has been pretty successful on stock cars and if you've watched a NASCAR race in the last couple years you've seen our product, but don't know it's there.
In the photo on the right, the Sunoco gas cans are laminated with Convex GearWrap 8 mil to protect the graphics from getting trashed in the pits. Convex has even been responsible for holding the bumper on a car after being hit, preventing the driver from having to make an unscheduled pit stop or preventing further damage.
Stock cars present a unique challenge. Many graphics will only last one race due to mishaps or track conditions. The benefit is that Convex and Pro-Shield can be used as laminates to make decals more durable.
Stock car racing has a very limited number of racers and is heavily price-driven. Many producers of stickers & decals will print on a lower-quality base film and overlaminate with a variety of Convex and Pro-Shield laminates that fit their needs.
The flexibility of Convex laminates allow the graphic producer to print on a number of materials other than Convex, but use Convex to protect the graphics from abrasion. Pro-Shield laminate is even tougher than Convex laminate because it is a harder film. It is available in 7 or 12 mil. Convex will form fit to compound curves easier, where as Pro-Shield may require heat from a heat gun to get it to conform.
